SUMMARY:Listening from the Heart
DESCRIPTION:A journalist once asked Mother Teresa\, “When you pray\, what do you say to God?” \nShe replied\, “I don’t say anything. I listen.” \nThe journalist pressed on: “Then what does God say to you?” \nShe smiled and said\, “He doesn’t say anything either. He listens.” \nListening creates a holy silence. When you listen generously to people\, they can hear the truth in themselves\, often for the first time. And in the silence of listening\, you can know yourself in everyone. Eventually\, you may be able to hear\, in everyone and beyond everyone\, the unseen singing softly to itself and to you. \nRachel Naomi Remen\, MD \nBut listening is easier said than done. It is simpler to advise\, solve\, question\, sympathise or even dismiss. Why? Because that’s what we have learned from observation and the quality of listening we have experienced. Very few of us have seen models of true listening. \nIf you want to create an authentic connection\, listening is a reliable and powerful skill to master. Listening creates a holy space where the speaker can hear her inner voice\, connect to her needs\, and find answers that serve her. \nIf you want to create such an experience for others \, join the action-based interactive workshop. We will use methods drawn from psychodrama and nonviolent communication to: \n\npractice PRESENCE\nlearn what not to do to be a good listener\nunderstand your own unmet needs when you cannot listen\nreflect on your patterns and responses\n\nWhen: 21 Feb\, Saturday\, 7-8.30 PM IST \nFee: Giftism (What is giftism? You choose a self-determined fee that feels right to you\, that feels clean\, fair\, and honest\, and that respects your financial means. If that amount is zero\, we welcome and trust that choice as well. We offer the workshop as a gift\, trusting the generosity of participants to support us in developing and sustaining in-depth learning journeys like this one.) \nIncluded in Karwaan package. \nSome guidelines for the workshop: \n\nVideos must be on.\nJoin 2 minutes early. Entry will close after 7.05 pm.\nKeep a pen and paper handy.\nBe seated at a place that allows privacy.\nRecording will not be provided.\n\nAbout the Coach: \nMonica is a certified Psychodrama Coach Practitioner. She offers in-person and online personal coaching using psychodrama\, psycho-spiritual work\, and nonviolent communication as therapeutic methods. She also conducts online and in-person group workshops for mental health\, human relations and social wellbeing. She is the co-founder of the holistic health company\, Poshak Life. More here.
